Climate & Weather in Bolivia

Bolivia has generally a temperate climate but temperatures can differ dramatically between day and night and also depend highly on the elevation. The country is situated on the southern hemisphere and the hottest months are November to February and the coldest months are April to July. The wettest moths are November to March.

The tropical lowlands in the east of the country experience very hot and humid weather, with December and January being the hottest months and most rainfall between late August and May. August tends to be especially windy. Characteristic for this region are the strong, cold, southern winds between May and July that cause the overnight temperatures to drop even by 20ºC / 40ºF. The northwest valleys are very hot and humid. This region is the rainiest and most humid in Bolivia. The central valleys have temperate to cool climate. Days are usually warm (16-27ºC / 60-80ºF) but at night temperatures occasionally drop below freezing. This region is also rather humid.
