Climate & Weather in Brazil

Brazil has seasonal weather changes in relation to rainfall, temperatures and humidity. The further south of the country, the more acute the seasonal changes become. Winter in Brazil lasts from June to August. Most of Brazil's weather and climate during this period will be moderate. Summer lasts from December to February. Summery is hot and very humid, particularily south of Rio de Janeiro. The Northeast of Brazil has much less humid summers. The Amazon Basin receives the most rain per annum, and it rains most frequently from December to May. It is also very humid year round, although temperatures are few degrees lower than those in Rio de Janeiro.

December to March is Brazil’s high season. Since school holidays begin mid December and end in February, the country is filled with vacationing Brazilian families and foreign tourists. This is also the most festive period. The low season, the cheapest and least crowded is from May to September.
