Having very extensive territory, China's climate varies considerably depending on the region and altitude featuring many different climatic zones. For the most of the country,
the climate is dominated by the northern temperate zone and summers are hot and rainy while winters are cold and dry.
The east coast experiences high humidity levels and summer monsoons. The western regions are deserts and the temperatures can be higher than 38°C / 100°F in summer. Very hot summers and extremely cold winders as well as rain all year round are characteristic for the central Yangtze and Huaihe River valleys, where the weather is marked by four distinct seasons. The north is generally dry with hot summers and very cold winters.
