Dominica is a large mountainous island of volcanic origin of the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean, south of Guadeloupe and north of Martinique. The island is known for picturesque mountainous landscapes and spectacular, abundant and varied flora and fauna. The beauty of Dominica's natural parks is depicted in dense rain forests, streams, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, volcanic peaks, lava craters or geysers and boiling volcanic pools.

Due to its volcanic origin, Dominica has few beaches, but it is a very attractive destination for eco-tourism.
