Climate & Weather in Dominican Republic

Flag of Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic enjoys a mostly tropical climate year-round, with temperatures in most parts of the country averaging around 77-85°F (25-29°C). Expect year-round averages of 73°F (23°C) in the early mornings that rise to 90°F (32°C) at noon, then fall to 68°F (20°C) in the evenings. Humidity can be very high, though frequent trade winds provide some relief from the heat.

The hurricane season typically begins in June and continues through November. Most of the biggest and longest-lasting storms, however, come through between August and October, with September being prime time. Major tropical storms, including hurricanes, now hit the DR on an average of once every year or two; the worst can produce violent winds, huge waves, and torrential rains and floods.

Here are three spots where you can do just that.
