The climate in El Salvador is tropical, with two distinct seasons, wet (invierno) and dry (verano). Temperatures change little from season to season depending more on the elevation. Regions situated at higher altitudes (central plateau) have moderate temperatures (average of 23°C / 73°F) where the Pacific coast is mostly hot (25°C - 29°C / 77°F - 84°F).

The wet season is from May to October when the country receives most of the rainfall. The precipitation is usually lower in the central plateau than at the coast. The dry season lasts from November to April when the air becomes hot, hazy and dry.
