In general, the climate in Greece is typically Mediterranean, with most of the country enjoying by hot and dry summers with a lot of sunshine, and mild and wet winters.
Because of the geographical location and country's terrain there are some significant variations in the weather in different parts of Greece.
The dry, Mediterranean climate is characteristic for most of Attica, the Cyclades Islands, the Dodecanese Islands, the low lands of Crete, the Peloponnese (along the eastern and southern coast) and Evia. Winter weather in these parts of Greece is wet with only occasional snowfall in the mountainous areas.
The mountainous regions of Greece experience cooler summers with more frequent rainfall and colder, icy and snowy winters.
The weather in Western Greece, particularly in the coastal regions, is mild and humid with hot summers and temperate winters.
