Hong Kong's climate is generally sub-tropical, but for big part of the year tending towards temperate and characterized by four distinguishable seasons. Spring months (March and May) are usually warm and humid with often fog and drizzle. Summer (June to mid September) features hot and humid air and frequent rains and thunderstorms. September is the typhoon season in Hong Kong. Winters (December to February) are cool and dry with average temperatures around 17°C / 63°F.
