Hungary has a temperate continental climate with four distinguishable seasons. Spring starts usually in April and brings frequent rains. Summers are dry and warm. Autumns are cool, foggy and rainy. Winters are moderately cold and usually dry with not a lot of snowfall.

The south of Hungary has a warmer climate than the rest of the country. Springs usually come earlier, summers are hotter, longer and with a lot more precipitation. During winters temperatures rarely drop below the freezing point.

Characteristic for weather in Hungary is a lot of sunshine. The averages range between 1.3 hours of sunshine per day in December and 9.6 hours per day in July.
