Climate & Weather in Israel

Flag of Israel

Israel enjoys a typically Mediterranean climate, characterized by with long, hot and dry summers and short, cool to warm and wet winters.

Summers can be very hot, especially in the south, dominated by semi-arid and desert climates. Winter weather varies depending on the region. Mountains can be sometimes cold and snowy, as well as windy. Coastal regions have a typical Mediterranean winters that are cool and rainy. The southern regions have a desert climate with mild winters experiencing only a few rainy days during this season.

Considering the weather conditions, probably the best time to visit Israel is in the spring (April and May) or autumn (September and October) when temperatures are most comfortable and the rainfall is relatively low. The resort city of Eilat at the Red Sea is good for beach holidays all year round.
