Climate & Weather in Malaysia

Flag of Malaysia

Malaysia has a hot, humid tropical climate characterized by high temperatures and humidity (around 80%) all year round. There are two two monsoon seasons, one from October to February and the other from April to October. Coastal regions exposed to the northeast monsoon tend to be wetter than those exposed to the southwest monsoon. Rainfall is well distributed throughout the year and the country experiences as many as 150 to 200 days rainy days per year.

Temperatures vary little from month to month, from around 32°C/89°F during the day and dropping to around 23°C/74°F at night. Temperatures fall significantly with rising altitude.

Travel to Malaysia is good all year round, but the worst months are March, April, and October when winds are light during the changeover from the southwest to northeast monsoons. The east coast of Peninsular Malaysia receives heavy rain from November to mid-February causing many resorts located there to close.
