Climate & Weather in Mauritius

Flag of Mauritius

The climate in Mauritius is tropical with two seasons: warm and dry winters (from May to November) and hot, wet and humid summers (from November to May). Temperatures don't change significantly from season to season, but the central plateau tends to be cooler than the coasts. February is the warmest month with average temperatures around 28°C (83° F) and July is the coolest (22°C / 71°F on average).

Most of the rainfall occurs between January and March, with occasional tropical cyclones that occur during this period. The driest month of the year is October, but the weather on the central plateau tends to be rainy year round.

The best months to visit Mauritius are from May to December - to avoid the rainy period from January to March.
