Climate & Weather in Spain

Flag of Spain

The weather in Spain, influenced by both the Atlantic and Mediterranean, varies significantly in different regions.

The weather in northwest Spain is mostly influenced by the Atlantic, particularly in autumn and winter. It is the rainiest and cloudiest part of Spain. Summers are cooler, cloudier, and wetter than elsewhere in the country. Daily hours of sunshine average from three in winter to seven or eight in summer.

The weather in central Spain is characterized by hot summers, light rainfall and low humidity. Winters have frequent cold spells and snowfall may be quite heavy and lie for a long time on the mountains.

Summers in Mediterranean Spain are hot and at times humid, with high amounts of sunshine. Southern part of the region receives little rain during the summer months (June to August).
