Climate & Weather in Thailand

Flag of Thailand

Thailand enjoys a tropical climate with most of the country having tree distinctive seasons marked by monsoons. The rainy season, between June and October, starts with the southwest monsoon from the Indian Ocean and brings high humidity and a lot of rain. Temperatures range from 23°C / 73°F at night to 32°C / 90°F in the afternoon.

The northeast monsoon from the central Asia brings cooler and drier air; this cool season usually lasts from November to February. The daytime temperatures are around 28°C / 82°F but they can fall at night to below 10°C / 50°F. At higher altitudes nighttime temperatures may fall below the freezing point. Precipitation during this season is only occasional. This is also the best time for tourists to visit Thailand.

The third season is the hot season, from March to May. It features higher humidity and very high temperatures that reach 40°C / 104°F.

The southern parts of Thailand experience only two seasons - hot and dry, with little temperature variations.
