Climate & Weather in Turkey

Flag of Turkey

Turkey's coastal regions enjoy Mediterranean climate with hot and relatively dry summers and mild, wet winters. The mountainous eastern regions have warm summers and very cold and snowy winters. Hot summers and cold winters are characteristic for the southeast areas of the country.

Turkey enjoys very sunny weather throughout the year with average hours of daily sunshine from 4 hours in winter to 13 in summer. High summer temperatures are usually tempered by the sea breezes along the coast as well as by low humidity in the inland areas.

The highest rainfall is in the northeast part of the country, on the Black Sea coast, while the driest parts are in the south, along the Syrian border.
