Most of Ukraine's territory is influenced by temperate continental climate
bringing long, cold winters and short, hot summers. The southern, coastal areas enjoy a more Mediterranean climate.
Highest rainfall occurs in the west and north (around 120 cm / 47.2 in annually) and lowest in the east and southeast (around 40 cm / 15.7 in annually). In addition to that mountains (Carpathian and Crimean) experience much higher precipitation than the lowlands.
The winter lasts from November to March and features regular snowfalls and average temperatures between -8°C / 17°F and 2°C/35°F.
Summers are warm to hot, particularly at the Crimean coast in the south, and temperatures range between 18°C / 64°F and 27°C / 81°F. Summer daytime temperatures at the coast can reach 39°C / 102°F with relative air humidity 65-80%.
