The United Kingdom (or UK, full name - The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) is an island country situated off the northwestern coast of continental Europe surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea, the English Channel and the Irish Sea. The country comprises of four nations: England (capital city - London), Scotland (capital city - Edinburgh), Wales (capital city - Cardiff) and Northern Ireland (capital city - Belfast) and occupies the island of Great Britain, the north-eastern portion of the island of Ireland and most of the remaining British Isles. The Republic of Ireland is the only country UK has a land border with.
