Vietnam is a country in Southeast Asia occupying the eastern and southern part of the Indochinese peninsula and having the South
China Sea along its entire east coast. The country's shape resembles the letter "S", it's long and narrow, going north-south. Vietnam borders
China to the north, Laos to the northwest and Cambodia to the southwest.
Vietnam is a very populous country, ranking number 13 in the world. 40% of the country area is dominated by mountains, with the highest point Phan Xi Păng, at 3,143 m (10,312 ft). Smaller hills account for another 40%, which leaves the area of the level land of only about 20%.
